Solo trips mean the world to travelers and motorcyclists alike. A good solo trip is a great way to know yourself better and explore all your passions and hobbies without fearing that there will be someone around who may judge you.
I recently had the chance to ride solo to Araku, and it was awesome, to say the least.
Araku is famous for its Coffee Gardens and its mesmerizing viewpoints.
I charted my visiting plan to experience what Araku had to offer in three days since it was a long weekend, and I had to return to my boring life again by the end of it.
I first went to the Coffee gardens and had export quality coffee grounded freshly at the Coffee Museum, which was refreshing, and gave me a burst of energy.
I started searching for places to stay and found a hotel by the name Nature's Nest. It was a cozy cottage-type room, which had everything I needed.
After having lunch at the hotel, I decided to head toward the beach.
Why do you ask?
Well, I had always wanted to visit beaches in the evening, or night, and stare at the moon and stars.
Well, that was kinda uncomfortable. It was humid, and there were crabs everywhere, so I returned to my hotel by the night for dinner, and slept soundly.
The next day, I planned to visit Borra caves, and started early after breakfast. It was complimentary.
What I can say is that it isn't as dull, cramped, or crowded as I had anticipated. The guides are more than happy to show you around without being too intrusive, and the caves are very well-lit.
Wear comfortable shoes, bring something warm, and keep plenty of water bottles on hand because the area the caves cover is surprisingly large. You'll get exhausted from all the walking, so plan on a long day. For those who would like to stop for a snack before continuing on their journey, there are a few restaurants available outside the caves that serve delectable coffee and tasty snacks.
After having lunch outside in a stall, I decided to go for a little sightseeing in the Padmapuram gardens.
The gardens are certainly beautiful and most famous for their adorable hanging huts! I spent about 2 hours here and most of my time was spent around these gorgeous huts.
I returned to my hotel and marked the next destination, which was the Katiki waterfalls.
Even if you're in a rush, you absolutely must visit the waterfall because it is stunning! However, keep in mind that the final km of the road must be traveled on foot and can be difficult for the elderly, so avoid it if you are traveling with a large number of young children or elderly people. The dining establishments close to the waterfall are beautiful and offer some of India's best bamboo-marinated chicken and bamboo-cooked delicacies. I had my lunch and dinner both around in small shacks serving these dishes and then left Araku on my bike in the evening to return home.
It was memorable, and I am looking forward to doing more solo trips.
